About best-by dates: A best-by date is the manufacturer's estimate of peak quality for a sealed, shelf-stable product, not an expiration date. After it passes, texture or flavor may change. That date is the reason for the price.

This lot is past its printed best-by date: June 2026

A best-by date is the manufacturer's estimate of peak quality for a sealed, shelf-stable product; it is not an expiration date. It is the reason this lot costs what it costs. Sealed, stored dry at room temperature since we took delivery. Texture or flavor may have changed. If you want in-date stock, this listing is not for you.

Why it costs less than retail

01

We buy what retailers clear out

Distributors have to move stock before the printed date, and what's left sells by the pallet at a fraction of cost. We buy those pallets outright.

02

We put the date in writing

Every product states its date status and a condition grade, and lists the printed best-by date when we have it in hand. Past best-by means the date has passed. Short-dated means there is still time on the clock.

03

No distributor tier

One warehouse in Brooklyn and no distributor tier between us and you. The saving is the whole business model, not a launch promotion.

How we grade every lot

Every listing carries one of these three grades. If a case arrives worse than its grade, we refund it and you don't have to ship it back.

We never sell infant formula, baby food, or anything that needs refrigeration. No exceptions, whatever the margin.

Sealed, past best-by
Factory seal intact, printed best-by date has passed. Stored dry at room temperature since we took delivery. Texture or flavor may have changed; the price reflects it.
Sealed, short-dated
Still inside the printed window, usually 30 to 90 days out. Cheap because the clock is short, not because anything is wrong with it.
Case damage, product sound
Crushed or scuffed outer carton, inner units undamaged and sealed. Where we have photos of the carton, we show the damage.

Questions people ask before their first order

What does "past best-by" actually mean?

A best-by date is the manufacturer's estimate of peak quality for a sealed, shelf-stable product. It is not an expiration. Past that window, texture and flavor can drift: a bar may be firmer, a cracker less crisp. We only list sealed, shelf-stable categories where that is the whole trade-off, and we never sell formula, baby food, or anything refrigerated.

How do I know what date I'm getting?

Every product page says whether the lot is past its printed best-by date or short-dated, and lists the printed date when we have it in hand. Where we have photographed the date code, that photo is on the listing. If you want a photo of the exact case before you order, email us.

What if I don't want it once it arrives?

Thirty days, opened or not, no restocking fee. Email us your order number, we send a prepaid label, and the refund goes back to your original payment method.
